Why Sisu

A heritage brand, not a factory batch

Sisu isn't mass produced. Every jar is made the way ghee has always been made — by hand, in small batches, with nothing added to speed it up or stretch it out.

Bilona Made

Hand-churned, the traditional way.

No Additives

Nothing but pure milk, slow heat.

Small Batches

Made in limited quantities, weekly.

Generations Old

A recipe passed down, not invented.

From Farm to Jar

Every jar starts in a field, not a factory

Our farms sit just outside the city — quiet pastures where cows graze freely and mornings begin with mist and birdsong. This is where the Sisu story really starts.

The Bilona Method

Nothing about Sisu is rushed

Six unhurried steps, the same way our grandmothers made it — nothing added to speed it up, nothing left out to cut corners.

Golden Ghee

01

Milk, sourced daily

Fresh milk collected each morning from farms we know and trust.

02

Curd, set overnight

The milk is set into curd using natural culture and left to develop slowly overnight.

03

Hand-churned to butter

The curd is churned by hand with a wooden bilona in small batches — the step that gives the method its name, and can't be rushed by a machine.

04

Makhan, skimmed by hand

The fresh white butter — makhan — rises to the top and is skimmed off by hand.

05

Simmered low, until golden

The makhan is cooked on a low flame until the milk solids settle and the ghee turns golden and fragrant.

06

Jarred, without additives

Cooled, strained, and jarred as-is — no preservatives, no added colour, no shortcuts.

Questions

Good to know before you order

What makes Bilona ghee different from regular ghee?

Most ghee is made by heating cream or butter directly. Bilona ghee is made by first setting milk into curd, hand-churning that curd into butter, and only then simmering it slowly — a slower, more traditional process that gives a richer aroma and flavour.

How should I store the ghee, and how long does it keep?

Keep the jar tightly closed in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and moisture — no refrigeration needed. Always use a clean, dry spoon so no water gets into the jar, since moisture is what causes ghee to spoil faster.
